I am an associate professor at HEC Montréal. My research interests are the social, political and cultural aspects of ICT in practice and the use of practice-based theoretical lenses and qualitative methods. Some keywords of my research are social inovation, social inclusion, citizen creativity, local and sustainable development and global-local dialogue. Theoretically structuration theory, social constructivism and critical theory are appeling for me. Professionally, I am specialized in training and consulting in the business intelligence area. I have published articles at the Organization Studies, Journal of Management Studies, Information Technology and People, Journal of Information Technology and Journal of Strategic Information Systems, among others.

Currently, I am working in four research programs investigating social innovations:

The first –  Financial inclusion – is about the use of ICT to support microfinance in Brazil and South America.

The second – Social business – is about an academic and pedagogical experience with innovative business models that seek to decrease poverty by the development of social skills among management students and executives.

The third – Citizen creativity – is about the civil society movements dealing with quality of life, social justice and sustainability.

The fourth – Technology and sustainability – is about the use of ICT to help companies and municipalities to manage sustainability practices.
